Message from the Chair
Dear colleagues and friends
In about six months we will have the opportunity to gather again for the 21st Annual Colloquium of our IUCN Academy of Environmental Law. Our hosts at the Centre for Environment, Sustainability and Climate Justice at the Gujarat National Law University have chosen a fascinating and timely theme, Mission LiFE, which raises questions that go to the heart of our discipline: environmental sustainability and justice, and the role of communities in achieving them.
We are also a community – a community of scholars who can generate knowledge and action to facilitate the transition to a sustainable and just world. We live in a time of increasing unrest, as shifts in the geopolitical landscape lead to increased tensions and conflicts around the world. This reality only underscores the need for our community to come together, to discuss and debate, to reinvigorate and learn from each other.
